Plan Your Visit to the Saratoga Museum

We’re a part of the Upper North Platte River Valley in the beautiful community of Saratoga, Wyoming. Located just minutes from the Medicine Bow National Forest, the Saratoga Museum is an ideal destination for learning about the surrounding area. Our museum tells the story of Saratoga and Wyoming from it's early geology through the pioneer settlers to modern times.

 

The Saratoga Museum has accessible parking and a barrier-free entrance on Constitution Avenue. Parking is also available on side streets and at Kathy Glode Park.

 

Driving Directions

 

From the North

Interstate 80 intersects with Highway 130  at  Walcott Junction, exit 235. Drive south 20 miles to Saratoga.

 

From the East

For a picturesque alternative from I-80, take Highway 130--the Snowy Range Scenic Byway, Wyoming's second highest pass--from Laramie. Open Memorial Day through October, weather permitting, Highway 130 intersects with Highway 230 about 7 miles south of Saratoga.

 

From the South

Things to Know

 

• For the safety of the exhibits, please don't touch.

• Restrooms can be found at the back of the Museum. Ask a docent for assistance.

• No animals allowed, except service animals. All service animals must be vested.

• Hand-held still and video photography is permitted within certain exhibits as indicated. Photographs can be taken for personal, non-commercial use only.

• Tobacco use is not permitted in the museum or on the museum grounds. This includes chewing tobacco, cigarettes, cigars, dip, and snuff. Use of electronic cigarettes, pipes, water pipes, or any other nicotine delivery device is also prohibited.

Saratoga (Hobo) Hot Pool

 

For more than a century, people have enjoyed soaking in Saratoga’s Mineral “Hobo” Hot Springs Pool. It is open 24 hours a day and free of charge, with water temperatures averaging 102 Fahrenheit; the Lobster Pot averages 120 . The Not-So-Hot Pool offers more tepid water. Showers, restrooms and changing areas available.

Upper North Platte River

 

The Upper North Platte River is one of Wyoming’s best rivers for float trips, ranging from whitewater thrills to leisurely drifting. It is regarded by the Wyoming Game & Fish Department as the “Premier Blue Ribbon Wild Trout Stream in Wyoming”, with over 3,200 catchable fish per mile.

Medicine Bow National Forest

 

The Medicine Bow National Forest is forged from three mountain ranges: the Laramie Range (east), the Snowy Range (center) and the Sierra Madre Mountain Range (west). Each is diverse in it's topography and climate, offering spectacular year round recreation.

Saratoga Fish Hatchery

 

The Saratoga hatchery provides lake trout eggs and brown trout eggs to federal, state and tribal programs and maintains back-up broodstock of rainbow trout and Cutthroat trout. The Hatchery also rears the endangered Wyoming toad. They are open weekdays 8am -4pm. Tours are available at 307-326-5662.
